Dr. Alexis Finlay Welcomes You to Ridgefield Eye Physicians. For over 20 years Alexis E. Finlay MD FACS has been providing superior eye care to Fairfield County residents. As a local area resident she has always wanted to practice in her community and so she founded Ridgefield Eye Physicians.
Dr. Finlay's training has been top-notch. She completed her pre-medical studies at Columbia University, attended Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and graduated with Honors. She then interned at McGill University Hospitals in Montreal and trained in Ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Finlay completed a fellowship in Ocular Pathology at the world-reknown Wilmer Eye Institute of the John Hopkins University. Her father was the first surgeon to implant an intraocular lens in the United States, under the tutelage of Sir Harold Ridley. She continued his tradition, always practicing the most cutting edge and meticulous surgery. She was the first ophthalmologist in CT to perform Laser Vision Correction. As a Cornea, Refractive and Cataract Surgeon she is committed to helping patients with Cataracts in Connecticut become independent of eyeglasses, reading glasses and bifocals through the use of advanced technology near vision presbyopia-correcting Lens Implants. Using state-of-the-art technology and equipment, Dr. Finlay also specializes in pediatric eye exams, glaucoma management, corneal disease including dry eye management, contact lenses, thyroid eye problems, macular degeneration and diabetic ocular care.
She has been recognized yearly by Castle Connolly as a "Top Doctor". She has also been designated a "Best Doctor" by New York Magazine. Dr Finlay also participates in volunteer and humanitarian service including Ridgefield, Redding and Newtown vision screenings and community health informational talks. She also volunteers as a surgeon in third world countries. She has volunteered with the Peace Corps, the Ship Hope, the Medical Mission Sisters, the International Eye Foundation, and lately with the Volunteer Health Program in the Dominican Republic. She lives with her Equine Veterinarian husband on a horse farm on the edge of Ridgefield CT.
